CapCut (international version of Jianying) officially launched its standalone app for Android tablets, CapCut Pad, on May 28. Previously, Android tablet users had to use an enlarged version of the phone interface. The new app brings a desktop-grade editing experience, featuring a multi-track timeline, keyframe animation, chroma key (green screen), background removal, stabilization tools, and AI-assisted editing, with support for exporting up to 4K 60fps HDR video. According to Android Authority, the app also supports cross-device editing, allowing users to seamlessly switch the same project between their phone, desktop, and tablet.
The iPad version of CapCut Pad was released in December 2025, and this is the expansion of the Android version. The app is now available for free on Google Play, and during a limited promotional period, all filters, effects, and music assets are fully accessible without a subscription. However, CapCut notes that some advanced features may eventually become paid, referencing the mobile version’s starting price of around $7.99 per month.
